Jairo Barrull Fernández artistically known as Jairo Barrull was born in 1983 in the Macarena area of Seville. He is the son of the legendary gypsy flamenco dancer Ramón Barrull, grandson of Tony El Gitano and great great nephew of Diego del Gastor. He made his first public appearance at ‘El Gazpacho Andaluz de Moron’ when he was just 7 years old. He danced as a solo artist for the first time in Germany in 1996 with Concha Vargas and Curro Fernández performing 'Almoraima' in the best theatres across southern Germany.
Since then Jairo has performed all over the world including a performance for the Pope John Paul II in the Vatican when he was 13 years old. He has performed as a solo artist in several prestigious theatres including the Dansens Hus, Stockholm and the Theatre Avenida, Argentina. Jairo has performed with flamenco artists such as his father Ramón Barrull, Juana Amaya, Angelita Vargas, Concha Vargas, Tomas de Perrate, Farru, Farruquito, José Maya, El Chocolate, Carmen Cortes and Antonio El Pipa. He has also collaborated in shows with Gerado Núñez, Arcangel, Aurora Vargas, Enrique Soto Sordera, Dieguito de Morón, Niño de Pura, Pansequito and José de la Tomasa.
He has participated in countless flamenco programs including La Bienal de Sevilla, El Flamenco Que Viene and the diverse flamenco production ‘Incognito’ by world famous juggler Francis Brunn, which premiered at the Alte Oper of Frankfurt. He danced in the show ‘Sinfonia Flamenca’ at the Orchestre National de Lyon Auditorium and ‘Magia de Maestros’ at the Berliner Philharmonie, where the press repeatedly named him ‘The Hope of Dance’. Jairo has appeared on RTVE and appeared in the internationally screened flamenco
documentary ‘Around Flamenco -The Streets of New York’.
In 2010 Jairo presented his new flamenco show ‘Dos Ramas’ with guest artist Angelita Vargas in France at the XXII Festival Flamenco Mont de Marsan and participated in the 2010 USA tour of Festival Flamenco Gitano and the I Festival Flamenco of Moscow 2011. Currently Jairo is touring Europe with his new show ‘Barrull, A Flamenco Legacy’, which premiered at El Monte, Cajasol, Seville, 2012.
