The band had a modicum of success in "86 to "90 with hits in Europe and the far east, In my eyes, Love infection, Could it be forever, London town, Lets stay together, and China sighs. Along with that came the album and many TV and radio appearances, working along side some of pops finest, some of which you can hear & see on this page.
The band broke up at the end of "90 due to musical differences, but some of the members worked on different projects together, Damon Summers was chased by Gordon Carlton from CBS records to sign a solo contract, but after an exhaustive 3 ½ years turned it down for a bit of P&Q, the guitarist was writing and recording footie songs (strange!!!) and rest of the guys played and recorded with other bands around the country and abroad, but in "91 and then again in “94 the band were brought back together for a series of gigs up and down their native country – England.
X Projection were influenced by a lot of the Nu romantic bands and artistes that had gone before, but took it a stage further into more generalized pop, as David O' Donald (RCA) said, "...I think you sound like a cross between Wham and early Culture Club...", we didn't think so, but hey who were we to argue with an A&R executive!
The band was laid to rest by 1998, and all the members of the most successful grouping went their own way. Damon Summers keep the 80s vibe going through to 2013 with tribute bands to the time, and continued to look for a new writing partner. In 2016 Damon and Mark Campling met, and immediately form a close working partnership, writing new material and discussing about bringing X Projection back to life with not only the old catalogue of songs but new material for the loyal fans that had been waiting for this happen. They were shortly joined by Jon Rowe and Kyra Poole on drums and vocal/keys respectfully, this was now a band who could not only produce new material but play it live as well! The story continues!
