No Longer Active From (17/3/2016) Marked for Deletion’ The Weller Council, based in Kings Lynn, Norfolk was formed in December 2011 by former ‘Lady Killers’ Bass Guitarist Jonny Piggott and ‘The Yesterdays’ (and former 'Bif Bam Pow') Lead Guitarist Rob Fricker. After meeting at a Yesterdays Gig and several subsequent conversations it became evident that both Jonny and Rob were ‘HUGE’ fans of The Jam, Style Council and Paul Weller’s solo career, and seeing a niche in the market for a ‘Proper’ tribute band that spanned Paul’s entire career ‘The Weller Council’ was born.
Finding other like-minded individuals was the next task, so to complete the line up, Jonny and Rob enlisted ‘Yesterdays’ (and former ‘Brighton 65’) Drummer Tristan Long and local musicain Steve Barrett. With all of their influences and experience based in the Indie/Mod/60’s/Scooter scene, the perfect tribute was finally pieced together.
‘The Weller Council’ aim to deliver a total experience to,… in our opinion,…. the UK’s most national treasure of the music industry. Through The Jam, Style Council and in his solo career, Paul Weller’s track record is un-surpassed. He has written, performed and delivered the songs that have documented the soundtrack to so many of our lives,… We have grown up, danced, got drunk, fallen over, got up again, cried, fallen in love and got married to his music, Aside from all that, his style defines ‘Cool Britannia’ with the sharpest suits, coolest shoes and most geometric hair-style in the country, he is the ‘Saviour of Cool’….. And his influence and style has defined almost four generations of our history in British music and fashion. This is our tribute to the ‘The Man’, ‘The Music’…. ‘The Modfather’…. We only hope that you love our performance us as much as we love performing his career….
