The Lord Nelson dates back to 1637 and was known as the Plough in Horatio Nelsons early years, he was born less than a mile from this lovely original inn, after his rise to fame the inns name was changed in 1798 and records show that Nelson threw a party for the village people here after one of his many victories, tread the beautifully worn brick floor into the historic cosy bar and sit in the seat where our most revered naval hero is said to have sat then try the Nelsons Blood exclusive ( a secret recipe of Woods 100 rum, alcoholic cloves and herbs and spices) to this house, take a bottle home with you for emergencies, peruse the fare available to the weary traveller or experienced foodie, you will not be disappointed, book your table now
